BSAC 2010 Incident Report to Come Out on 19 Feb

The 2010 report will cover the incident reporting year of 1st October 2009 to 30 September 2010 and will be published after its presentation at the National Diving Conference on 19 Feb 2011.

According to the BSAC’s website:

“The 2010 report records 364 UK incidents involving divers regardless of affiliation and 30 overseas incidents that involved BSAC members. The number of incidents is in line with recent years. The report findings are generally in line with recent reports and although there is some variation in some specific instances, such as rebreathers and depth, the numbers involved are small and there is insufficient evidence as yet of substantial changes. However, the apparent trend in recent years of diver age and fitness becoming an increasing factor in fatal incidents seems to be continuing.”

Once it has been released, the report will be available for download from www.bsac.com/incidents. It would be worthwhile browsing the report, as it’s far less painful to learn from other people’s problems / mistakes than your own.
